ABOUT MSDA
The Michigan Search Dog Association (otherwise know as MSDA) is a 501(C)3 nonprofit
organization which was incorporated in January of 2004. Our services are available
to any local city, state or federal government agency free of charge.
Many years of thought and planning have gone into the MSDA. From the beginning,
we have made all possible efforts to ensure that MSDA is being established
properly.
MSDA is not your typical search dog group or a social club. We are a
professional organization with high moral and ethical standards.
MSDA is raising the standard by primarily recruiting individuals from within
the police, fire and emergency medical service communities and strategically
placing them throughout the state. This ensures each of our handlers has a
level of integrity, compassion and professionalism that can only be received
from years of public service.
TODAYS PROGESS
Currently MSDA is training new wilderness canine teams. These men and woman
will have the responsibility of finding lost or otherwise disoriented children
or adults in a wilderness setting. Each handler is receiving intense
classroom and field training from experienced instructors using nationally
recognized and accredited curriculums.
MSDA teams that successfully pass written and practical evaluations by
independent third party evaluators will receive certification by nationally
recognized agencies. Each canine and handler will then have credibility and
recognition for their achievements.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
As MSDA rapidly progresses forward we will be actively increasing our
capabilities and services.
MSDA will implement new programs and divisions on a regular basis. This will
include urban services, accelerant detection, criminal investigative support
and more.
